Push Pin Call

Flextone Run N GunFlextone's Run-N-Gun

The new Run-N-Gun from Flextone Game Calls is a compact pot call with a case and neck lanyard for quick and easy access.

"The Run-N-Gun was designed with hot weather in mind," said Flextone Call Designer Tom Wiley. "Late-season turkey hunting can be quite warm, so I always look for any opportunity to shed the vest. Since the striker is stored inside the call's case, all you need to do is put it around your neck and go."

The integrated case is made of durable, soft rubber, which keeps the call quiet, so you don't make a noise if you accidently bump it on your gun or bow. It also holds a small "inverted striker;" most of the full-length peg is embedded into the top. But don't let its small size fool you; the striker packs plenty of punch. The Run-N-Gun comes in both slate and glass. — J.R.

Wearable turkey calls

For fashion or function, made to be worn

Some turkey calls are not designed to be tucked away in a vest pocket or carrying case. They are to be worn around your neck, strapped to your knee or wrapped around your shotgun — ready for action when a big gobbler thunders just over the ridgeline.
Lots of lanyards

Many turkey calls are built with lanyard holes to make them easily accessible in the field. You can find a variety of them from manufacturers like Knight & Hale, Woods Wise and Primos. Other calls, like any of the handsome pots from Roberts Brothers Turkey Calls, come equipped with a lanyard enclosed in the package. But if you find your call lanyard-less, try the deluxe Tom Lanyard from EZ Access. It allows you to attach, detach and change out your turkey calls whenever you want. You can attach a pot call or mouth call storage box to the main port of the lanyard, and easily clip or unclip your strikers any time.

Calls that connect

The Gunslater II from Flextone Game Calls is a gun-mounted pot call holder easily installed to the side of a shotgun.

"There's nothing easy about throwing a fist full of lead at the white head of a big ol' thunder chicken," said Michael Waddell. "The new GunSlater II is a great piece of equipment that helps you get the job done. It allows you to use your favorite slate call with just one hand, while keeping your shotgun in the up-and-ready position."

The Power Crystal Freak from Primos Hunting Calls is another turkey call designed for one-handed calling. This pot call has a built-in base that mounts to your leg or gunstock.

Run the innovative pot-style Twistin' Hen Call from Penn's Woods simply by twisting the top "striker portion" of the call clockwise. It also can be strapped to your leg or shotgun.

The most time-tested one-handed turkey call is a push-pin. The classic Quick Gun Mount Push Button from Penn's Woods mounts directly to the barrel of your shotgun using a clip system. Operate the call by pulling a string with your index finger.

The Gobbler Grenade push-pin turkey call from Hunter's Specialties has a contoured underside that's easy to your gun barrel with the included elastic strap.

Fashion gurus say accessories make an outfit. When it comes to keeping still, these wearable calls could make the difference between a bird in the bag or a botched hunt. — J. J. Reich
